Unkind

It is like the world wants to be
Released from this filth, but we continue to be
A source of fear, consuming greed, and
Of course the jealousy and thoughtless deeds,
Pretending it is okay to blind
Ourselves to ourselves when unkind
Hurting others like so, controlling when we ought to know
To take our share, then get up and go.

Why can we not push high
Those who deserve to touch the sky
And live lives better than us,
Just admit we are under the cut
It pains me to see our stars shot down, simply because
We cannot bear their shine nor warmth,
Nor the sight of ourselves reflecting in their eyes
Yes, they see right through our disguise.
I want to scream through it all,
Can you see this will soon take its toll
The good people around pounded to powder so fine,
Still a substance of most substance you'd find.

If I could, I would take those who deserve that break
From the clammy hands that shake, then fake,
Make hate, trade Satan's fate...bah!
I want to take you faraway, where people aren't like that
Where people are adults who understand,
Where principles are honestly simple and
You are free to do what you can

Once...

My heart is all in shambles
If you could let me know
My means to get untangled
The ways that I could go

Tomorrow's door is opening
I am still awake from last
Heart still in grey-stone casing
Or is it made of glass

Why Do You Wear That Silly Frown?

The sky is blue
It's beating down
Saying why do you wear that silly frown
I'm not raining yet
You do it for me instead

The summer is rolling up
Watching me, my hand-stuffed pockets
Or lying in bed against the wall
Pretending you hold it all
In time I curl away and soak
Rest my head in golden cloak

Talk

The sound of laughter
The sight of lips
Curving up
To florid tips
With tonsils dancing
White teeth parting
Chests that rise and dip

But smell and taste are nothing
You are far away, not feeling

You continue to walk, I think
Painting blue steps that shrink
Cementing mirage
Enhance entourage
Of shallow, superfluous tricks

Easy in my crystal ball
Tell no fortune, tell no lie
Explore a snow globe
Wear a holiday disguise
Fear of eyes that burn in
Heating ice for flooding
Never learned to swim
This close to giving in

Every time

But I thought you said I could talk to you?

Dreams, Hopes, Memories

A grain of sand jumped into sea
Begins its slow descent
Through ripples, bubbles, currents - all
Chasing wonderfully
Still guided by the shining star
Who would not forget of where
Until it sinks a little more
And surrounds become less clear

Spinning - once in a while up
Curving - once in a while down
Twisting - all the while moving

Closer to the ocean floor
Beneath the heavy waters
Move with the owning hum of Earth
Turn dark and depth to shelter
And every now and then a glimmer
Will nudge a preoccupied mind
Like small voices muffled, not even echoed
Are they yours or are they mine?
